Angry Birds Seasons “Haunted Hogs” Update Coming Soon!

You've heard it here first! I think we can put the speculation to rest. In keeping with tradition, Angry Birds Seasons will receive its third annual Halloween update. And not only do we know that the update is coming, but we are relatively sure it will be called, "Haunted Hogs". This could obviously change, but only time will tell.Now, details are very very sparse at the moment, but we are willing to speculate about a few things. Our disclaimer here is that absolutely nothing is confirmed or official, but since these questions will likely be asked by fans, we will express our opinions as "answers".
  • We believe this update will be v3.0.0 of Seasons, and start a new group called "Seasons 2013". Why? Trick or Treat (originally, "Angry Birds Halloween") was v1.0.0 and the first episode of the 2011 group, and Ham'o'ween was v2.0.0 and the first episode of the 2012 group.
  • If we had to guess, we think it will be released this coming Saturday, October 20th, 2012. Why? Angry Birds Halloween was released this day, as was Ham'o'ween. It's not your typical Thursday update, but rather it's an anniversary release.
  • It will likely contain 30 levels. Why? This was from the Game Center screenshot, which showed "test scores" upwards of 3.3M points. This is consistent with, say, Summer Pignic and Ham'o'ween.
  • More than likely there will be at least two Golden Eggs, one hidden, and one for 3-starring all levels.

No reason to ask Santa for an update when Rovio is feeling as generous as Ebenezer Scrooge after being visited by the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Angry Birds Seasons "Winter Wonderham" will be the third annual winter update to this epic franchise. Like Halloween, it's a true tradition.Update! Many of the below items have been confirmed by Rovio in an exclusive release of information. Check out our latest post to see what has been confirmed, and to grab a Rovio-official wallpaper!Now, details are very very sparse at the moment, but we are willing to speculate about a few things. Our disclaimer here is that absolutely nothing is confirmed or official, but since these questions will likely be asked by fans we will express our opinions below.** Important **Each bullet below is purely speculation. I am stating it here so that I don't have to rewrite, "We think" every time. Okay, with that said, here's what we think (zing!):
  • Mark your calendars as Saturday, December 1st, 2012 is the likely release date for Winter Wonderham. The specific time is certainly up for debate, but 8AM UTC is a best-guess given the next item. By the way, 8 AM UTC is: 3 AM EST, 12 midnignt PST, and 10 PM Hawaiian (where it probably won't be so wintery). Go here if you need more times?
  • "Advent Calendar", one level per day, style episode (such as Wreck the Halls, Summer Pignic, and Season's Greedings) is highly probable. While some people will disagree, I very much enjoy these types of releases, as it gives me an opportunity to focus and perfect strategies on each level each day. As such...
  • 25 snow-covered levels in total, with one level per day from December 1st until Christmas. You will likely have to connect to the Internet the first time you play a level (only the first time for each level) so that it can download the level file and check the date (this prevents early access). New levels will likely unlock at 8AM UTC, as this has been the recent theme.
  • Two freshly laid Golden Eggs should be up for grabs: one hidden in-game and one for 3-starring all levels. We've had a present and a cookie thus far. I wonder what will be next! A big ornament? A giant Ham?

Angry Birds Seasons Winter Wonderham Exclusive Details & Wallpaper

Click the image to downloadConfirmed! The Angry Birds Seasons Winter Wonderham update is coming this weekend! We've got some exclusive details, plus an awesome wallpaper to get you in the holiday spirit (above). Below are the details provided exclusively to us from the awesome folks at Rovio HQ:
  • Holiday advent calendar: 25 new levels, one per day. This is what we expected, but it's nice to have confirmation. We believe the levels will be released at around 12 AM PST (Pacific Standard Time), which is 8AM UTC.
  • Snowy winter landscape under the aurora borealis. More info about the amazing aurora borealis can be found on Wikipedia.
  • New ice element! We're not sure exactly what this is, but we're definitely intrigued! Maybe it's similar to the snow found in the recently released Angry Birds Star Wars Hoth update.
  • 3 secret levels to find. By "secret" levels we think they're referring to Golden Eggs, but we will see.
  • "Harbin" level, in honor of the Angry Birds Seasons theme park in the Ice and Snow World in Harbin, China. Now this is something I would love to see myself. Per ScandAsia.com, "Covering more than 600.000 square meters (the size of 84 soccer fields), Harbin Ice and Snow World is one of the biggest ice and snow parks in the world and hosts millions of visitors from around the globe each year. Twenty thousand craftsmen spend two weeks creating more than 2000 pieces of ice sculpture, using 180,000 square meters of ice and 160,000 square meters of snow." Angry Birds Seasons Winter Wonderham Update Now Available!

Happy Holidays, to one and to all. Welcome the Winter and say goodbye to the Fall. Be merry and happy, whatever the reasons. But do not miss this update to Seasons!That's right, the Winter Wonderham update to Angry Birds Seasons (v3.1.0) is now available for iOS, PC, Mac, NOOK Color, and Android via Google Play and the Amazon Appstore. More platforms will be getting the update very soon. We were the first to confirm this update, posting some GameCenter imagery about two weeks ago and exclusive Rovio-official details yesterday. This is Rovio's third episode to celebrate the Christmas and holiday season, and as is Rovio's tradition, this episode is rolled out like an Advent Calendar!Participate in the ABN Winter Wonderham Challenge starting each night at 7 pm PST!

This update includes:

  • 25 new levels with one new level unlocked every day just like Seasons Greedings, Summer Pignic, and Wreck the Halls. See below for more details about this. Our walkthrough videos will come online shortly after the levels are released.
  • Snowy winter landscape under the aurora borealis. More info about the amazing aurora borealis can be found on Wikipedia.
  • New ice element! Have you played the Hoth update for Angry Birds Star Wars yet? This is very similar, allowing blocks to slide in a near-frictionless environment.
  • Golden Eggs include a "Big Ornament" bonus Golden Egg level that is unlocked after 3-starring all levels. Rovio stated there are "3 secret levels to find", so we are guessing that there may be two Golden Eggs hidden in-game. Once we find some Eggs, we will update our Complete Angry Birds Seasons Golden Eggs guide.
    Update: Thanks to some clever sleuthing from @josm, it appears that there will be the Big Ornament, an in-game hidden Golden Egg, and another New Year's Golden Egg. We don't know precisely when this Egg will show, but last year's was 8AM UTC on 31 December.
  • No power-ups! Which is a darn good thing if you ask me.
  • No new achievements for iOS. This is expected, since Seasons reached the GameCenter limit quite some time ago.
  • Spiffy new app icon! While the app icon for Seasons always changes to match the latest update, this change is far more extreme -- and looks awesome!
  • Pro Tip! Flashback to Seasons Greedings! Presents are worth 3,000 points!
  • "Harbin" level, in honor of the Angry Birds Seasons theme park in the Ice and Snow World in Harbin, China. Keep an eye out for this level, which will land on December 4th and should be amazing. Read more in our post from yesterday, or in the full article with details about Rovio's participation at ScandAsia.com.
  • Update! On 5 December, Android users were given a special treat: Four brand new levels! These are accessible by clicking on the blue "Intel" egg on the Golden Egg screen of Winter Wonderham. If you need help 3-starring these levels, our walkthroughs are live!

Notes:

  • Each level of Winter Wonderham unlocks at 12 AM PST (8 AM UTC, 3 AM EST, 10 PM Hawaiian; go here if you need more times).
  • Winter Wonderham 3-star walkthroughs are live. Daily walkthrough pages will go live at 12 AM PST, so be sure to check back every day. The actual video will be added to the page as soon as it's ready, but the page is there for your comments and strategies.
  • Winter Wonderham Total Destruction walkthroughs are also live. These will also go live at 12 AM PST, with the actual video being added later in the day.
  • You must be connected to the internet the first time you play a level (only the first time for each level) so that it can download the level file and check the date (this prevents early access).
  • The leaderboards are also live. Again, please be patient with brand new levels; we will update the leaderboards during the day.

Bug Updates:

  • Bug Fix (Bug 47 iOS/Android/PC/Mac): All issues with the Mooncake Festival Golden Eggs have been resolved (beyond the on-going bug that appears below). We will be re-opening the relevant levels on the leaderboard. Note that we have placed strong restrictions on permissible scores on these levels, to prevent entry by those who exploited the bug.
  • Bug Fix (Bug 48 iOS/Android/PC/Mac): The "New Year Egg" from Wreck the Halls seems to be universally unlocked now. (Original bug said it could not be initially unlocked in v2.5.0 or higher.)
  • Bug Fix (PC only): The ropes have returned to the slingshot on PC. (Original bug said the ropes were sometimes not visible on PC, called the "ghost slingshot".)
  • Ongoing Bug: Some users are still having issues with 3-star "Big Items" remaining locked, despite obtaining 3-stars on all levels. Any user experiencing these issues is encouraged to contact AMslimfordy by Private Message. Rovio is aware of the bug, but thusfar there seems to be barriers preventing a fix.

Angry Birds Seasons Update Adds Power-ups and 8 New Levels

Well, the flurry of Angry Birds updates continues, as Angry Birds Seasons gets eight new levels and Power-ups. This update, which takes us to v3.2.0 is out for iOS, Mac, PC, and Android via Google Play and the Amazon Appstore, with more platforms coming soon! Read on for more info about the new levels and the all new Homing Bird Power-Up.This update includes:
  • 8 new bonus levels similar to what you've seen in Rio. There are four new bonus levels in Winter Wonderham and four in Haunted Hogs. Three of the bonus levels are unlocked by earning stars and one by earning feathers. It takes 10 feathers to unlock the Mighty Eagle bonus level. (Note: Feather bonus levels not available for PC or Mac.)
    • Haunted Hogs star bonus levels unlock as follows: 30 stars for level one, 50 level two, and 70 for level three
    • Winter Wonderham star bonus levels unlock as follows: 25 stars for level one, 40 for level two, and 60 for level three
  • Power-ups have landed in Seasons (iOS/Android only). I'm not going to sugarcoat it, I know many of you will be extremely disappointed in this. Rest assured though, our leaderboards will continue to maintain a strict no Power-up policy. Three Power-ups have been added: Sling Scope, Super Seeds, and a brand new one called, "Homing Bird", which is shown in the video above.
  • All new Homing Bird Power-up! Per Rovio, "This hog-seeking hero will head with missile force for the first pig ot his radar!"
  • Mighty Eagle now available for Android via Google Play! Android users rejoice, the famed Mighty Eagle is now available for Android as an in-app purchase. The model hasn't changed either, as it's buy once, unlimited use. Definitely a great value. Thanks for the tip @sparty83.
  • No new achievements
  • No distinction on Power-Up scores, unfortunately. Therefore, please DO NOT enter Power Up scores on our leaderboards at this time.

Angry Birds Seasons Circus Update TeaserHappy World Circus Day everyone! New Info about the Forthcoming Angry Birds Seasons Update!To celebrate this awesome day Rovio shared the image above on their Facebook page. Well, this image definitely takes some of the mystery out of what the theme of the next Angry Birds Seasons episode will be. Grab your tickets and antihistamine! It looks like the circus is coming to town. At this time we don't know what to expect from the actual gameplay, but we will know soon enough.Fun fact! If you look closely at the top of the big top their is a mustache pig suspended by a bunch of balloons. What a cruel prank.

Update May 3rd: Portals!

Rovio has released a "live trailer", if you want to call it that, of the forthcoming update. As many suspected, this episode will include portals! In fact, a little additional information from Rovio to us: "Anything can go through portals. Blocks, birds, pigs... ;)". Be sure to check out the Vine video below, and keep your eyes peeled for this update!

Angry Birds Seasons Spring Update Image Teaser Exclusively for AngryBirdsNestIt's a happy day here at The Nest! As some of you may know, Angry Birds Seasons is hands down, no questions asked, unequivocally my favorite app in the Angry Birds franchise. From the different and unique themes, to the "Pro Tip" bonus items, it's just fantastic.Long story short, Rovio knew that we us here at the Nest have been chomping at the bit for information about the next episode in Angry Birds Seasons (it's been awhile!). They have said on Twitter that a new episode is coming, but they haven't given any details.Until now...

Spring is in the Air

The next update for Angry Birds Seasons (Episode 16) will be a springtime episode, and is expected to be extremely festive. (Sorry to those of you in the southern hemisphere, but perhaps you can think fondly of this past Spring and all the fun times you had.) Also, according to Rovio, there will be some "pretty interesting trick shots" in this episode as well.So what do we think? Hard to say, but before we wager any guesses we should first take a good look at the image at the top of this post. It was created exclusively for the Nest by Rovio (thanks!) as way of giving us a clue or two about what is to come. What do you see?It seems like the general theme will focus around those oh-so-pleasant spring nights. Based on the astronomy calendar, it looks like April and May will be pretty busy in the night sky. Items of interest include Astronomy Day (April 20th), two meteor showers (April 21st / 22nd and May 4th / 5th), a partial lunar eclipse (April 25th), and an annular solar eclipse (May 10th).So, a nighttime spring theme is one guess, but why does it look like the text is getting pulled into a ginormous black hole? Will the birds be sucked in and transported to another dimension? Also, notice how the image is also washed out / heavily saturated. This is not the typical Rovio style. Maybe it was done that way on purpose, or maybe not. Either way, my head is spinning as to the possibilities.Lastly, we also shouldn't forget about Summer Pignic. It obviously had a warm summer theme and contained lots of outlandish levels (though I don't recall any black holes). It was "advent calendar"-style though, so maybe the forthcoming update will be similar.

"A New Hope" for Power-Ups

Pardon my weak Star Wars joke, as by no means am I trying to diminish the significance of this. Perhaps I have a soft spot for wanting the episode to be more important.Despite the Game Center restrictions on the number of allowable leaderboards, Angry Birds Seasons will now include the long-awaited, long-sought-after visual distinction between Power Up scores and "clean" scores. This distinction, according to Rovio, will mimic the style in Angry Birds Space.I know some users will be excited, others may be skeptical. But, assuming the system works like the one in Space, I think all users should be happy with the end result. Let's also add that, so long as people don't go around bashing Rovio with "Why can't you do this in the others?!", I think we can expect to see the system rolled out to the other versions in due time.So with that, I say here: Thank you, Rovio, for listening. We really appreciate this.

New info! The sixteenth episode of Angry Birds Seasons will be called Abra-Ca-Bacon and will land on Thursday, May 16th, theoretically (approximately) simultaneously for iOS, Android, PC, and Mac! The update will include 30 normal levels and six bonus levels (likely 3 unlocked by accumulating a certain number of stars, 1 similarly for feathers, an in-game Golden Egg, and a 3-star "Big Item"). We also see exactly how portals will act, and it looks really awesome! Angry Birds Seasons Abra-Ca-Bacon Update Out Now!

"Hoccus Porkus" and "Open Swine-same" only begin to describe this morning's release, as Abra-Ca-Bacon has been released as v3.3.0 of Angry Birds Seasons! The update has landed for iOS, Mac, PC, Kindle, Nook, and Android via Google Play and the Amazon Appstore, with more platforms coming very soon. This marks the first release by Rovio's Stockholm studio, which you can read more about in Rovio's press release.PC users: Please see our separate post for additional details about obtaining this update.This is a pretty exciting update, so let's get right into it. This update includes:
  • 30 new levels centered around the magical, summertime experience of the circus. Walkthroughs are already being recorded and should be live soon. If you need help, our walkthrouhgs are live
  • 6 bonus levels! Star-based bonus levels are unlocked at 30, 50, and 70 stars accrued in the episode; Feather-based bonus level is unlocked at 10. There's one Golden Egg hidden in-game (we aren't going to say where quite yet, but keep an eye out!), and the Big Juggling Pins level will unlock by 3-starring all 30 levels. Walkthroughs available here.
  • New portal element! If you have played Cut the Rope or PORTALS, you have an idea of how this works. If anything passes into one portal, it comes out of the matching-colored portal somewhere else in the level. The first few levels of Abra-Ca-Bacon will get you used to the concept.
  • New power-up! Called "Allaka-BAM", the Power Up places three TNT crates around the level to help your birdies blast the piggies!
  • Two new achievements for iOS! This is very unexpected. We've been saying that GameCenter reached it's limit, which wasn't quite true. Before today, Seasons had used 980 out of 1000 points; this update adds 16 more points, which means there's still a tiny bit of room left.
  • Pro Tips! Juggling pins are worth 3000 points, and gold tokens are worth 1000 points!
  • In-game Power Up distinction! Yes, now your in-game "High Score" will differentiate your best score with and best score without use of Power Ups, similar to Angry Birds Space. It's what we have really wanted since the inception of Power Ups into the apps, and we are grateful to Rovio for heeding our request. Thanks guys!

Bad Piggies Rise and Swine, plus Angry Birds Seasons Abra-Ca-Bacon Land on PC

At long last, updates for PC seem to be rolling out. According to Rovio, they experienced some serious technical difficulties with their PC apps and have worked tirelessly to repair them. Today, we saw the first few updates roll out. (And no, we do not know when other updates will land for PC.)

Bad Piggies

First thing this morning, Bad Piggies was updated to include the first 15 levels of Rise and Swine. For more information about what's included in this release, see our original post.To grab this update, simply open your Bad Piggies app on your PC. You should be prompted that a new version is available. If not, try cloud.rovio.com/install/pc/download/BadPiggies/.

Angry Birds Seasons

A short while later, Angry Birds Seasons was updated to v3.3.0, featuring the portal-filled episode Abra-Ca-Bacon. The episode has 30 normal levels, 3 bonus levels for PC, a hidden Golden Egg, and a Big Juggling Pins level for 3-starring all levels. For a much more detailed look, see the release post.Unfortunately, Rovio revamped its shop and, in doing so, you will not likely be prompted to download the new version in-game. Instead, head to download.angrybirds.com and click on "Download Free Demo" under Seasons. Run the executable to install the new version. All of your previous progress should be there, but be sure to backup your data just to be safe.

Important Information

If you are getting errors when trying to install or run the app, go to download.angrybirds.com and download the demo, as we say above. When you run the the app, you will be prompted that an update is available.DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE IN-GAME UPDATE!!It is actually a downgrade, and potentially to a buggy version. Your best bet is to ignore the prompt (sure, it's annoying, but it's better than having a broken game). For more information, we have a forum thread about this issue.

One of our renowned sleuthers @Josm has been closely watching Rovio's Twitter feed for hints about forthcoming updates. A lot of users have been asking about a possible update to Angry Birds Seasons, since the last episode we saw landed back in May. Well, there were a few tweets to choose from, but we'll include this guy:https://twitter.com/AngryBirds/status/403836594659930112Now we have to be perfectly clear here: This is not a guarantee! It's entirely possible that we're reading a bit too much into it, or maybe Rovio has a completely different plan for Seasons. But both BirdLeader and I are optimists and Seasons enthusiasts, so we're hoping this means...Another Advent Calendar is coming to Seasons!Oh, and let's not forget about the original Angry Birds update coming soon! There may be some surprises in store there too.

Angry Birds Seasons Arctic Eggspedition Update Now Available for iOS & Android! Solution for iOS Crashing

Grab your snow boots and a thick down coat, as we're heading to the North Pole! Rolling out a few days before we expected, Angry Birds Seasons Arctic Eggspedition (v4.0.0) is now available for iOS, Mac, and Android via Google Play, with other platforms coming soon.Crashing during startup? Rovio is aware of the issue on both Android and iOS. Uninstall/Reinstall seems to work most of the time, but please backup your data first! If you still experience issues when restoring progress, try restoring only the highscores.lua file.If you haven't recovered from Turkey Day here in the US, start burning off those calories in Arctic Eggspedition. If you're from outside of the States, join us in an epic countdown to Christmas -- even if it's summer in the southern hemisphere. This will be our fourth celebration of the holiday season, and in true tradition levels are unlocked in an Advent Calendar format!Participate in the ABN Arctic Eggspedition Challenge starting each night at 7pm PST! A new Eggspedition level each day! Do you have what it takes to top the leaderboard?

This update includes:

  • 25 new levels, which are unlocked one level every day. Veterans are used to this format, as it's the fifth time we've done this in Seasons! Our walkthroughs will be live shortly after each level is release.
  • New Golden Eggs! There appears to be 4 of them, based on the description:
    • Likely 2 Golden Eggs hidden in-game;
    • The "Big Stove", which will unlock after 3-starring all levels;
    • Another "New Year's Golden Egg"? We've had one each of the last 2 years, unlocking automatically at 12AM PST on 31 December.
  • No new achievements for iOS. This is expected, since Seasons reached the GameCenter limit quite some time ago.

Notes:

  • Each level of Arctic Eggspedition unlocks at 12AM (midnight) PST (8AM UTC, 3 AM EST, 10 PM Hawaiian; go here if you need more times). On some platforms you an also purchase and unlock all levels for $0.99 (this unlocks all 25 levels and all 4 Golden Eggs).
  • Note: Since the Advent Calendar is starting a few days early, we have a mini gap before Level 2 unlocks. Level 2 will unlock at 12AM PST on 2 December, Level 3 on 3 December, etc.
  • Arctic Eggspedition 3-star walkthroughs are live for ALL levels.
  • You must be connected to the internet the first time you play a level (only the first time for each level) so that it can download the level file and check the date (this prevents early access).
  • The leaderboards are also live. Again, please be patient with brand new levels; we will update the leaderboards during the day.
  • Participate in the ABN Arctic Eggspedition Challenge starting each night at 7pm PST! A new Eggspedition level each day! Do you have what it takes to top the leaderboard?

Angry Birds Seasons South HAMerica Update Out Now!

The competition is heating up in the FIFA World Cup, which is down to the final eight teams. While marmosets and macaws alike flock to Rio, our favorite feathery friends are arriving on a device near you! Angry Birds Seasons South HAMerica (v4.1.0) is now available for iOS and Android via Google Play, with more platforms coming soon!This is the first content-based update to Seasons this calendar year, and most of the staff agrees that it's their absolute favorite Angry Birds app. So enough blabbing already, and let's talk about content!

This update includes:

  • 24 new levels geographically centered in the southwest quadrant of our humble globe! Our walkthroughs are live if you need help.
  • New Golden Eggs! There are two hidden in-game (please don't say here -- some people might want to find 'em themselves) and the Big Aztec Calendar level unlocks by 3-starring all 24 levels.
  • Pig Days! Now we are only speculating here but since we are calling the 3-star Golden Egg the "Big Aztec Calendar", we're guessing this will be an Advent-style set of levels! It starts in 16 days, or around July 19th. This marks the beginning of Huey Tecuilhuitl, the Feast for the Greatly Revered Ones.
  • No new achievements for iOS, which is expected since the SD version is completely full and the HD version only has 4 points available.
  • Pro Tips! Gold Coins and Golden Idols are worth 3,000 points each!
A few other minor additions and changes. Super Seeds has been renamed "Power Potion". The Seasons packages have been re-renamed: We're back to calling them Seasons 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 (Oy!). And of course, the new app icon is sweet!

Then send the yellow bird through as many snow blocks as possible. Then clear any remaining pigs with Wingman. Fling the Red bird down through the TNT near the slingshot, then target the hanging pigs with the next few birds. Detonating the TNT under King Pig is the goal, though usually this will happen with the Black bird. The score in the video below is 189,130.Note: This level celebrates our fourth birthday! Can you believe it? Angry Birds Nest is four years old! As the largest and most ultimate of Angry Birds fan communities, this Pig Day level honors all our awesome fans who started the site and made so popular. Thanks to all of you! Squawk!
For those who don't know -- or for those who just enjoy hearings he story -- the idea for AngryBirdsNest began in May 2010 when our very own Commander in Beak @BirdLeader and his then-two-year-old son became mildly obsessed with Angry Birds. Instead of just creating the site, he professionally asked the Mighty Eagle's permission: Rovio CMO Peter Vesterbacka. With a green light in hand, BL created... Well this:AngryBirdsNest July 2010Since then, we've seen AngryBirdsNest grow from that humble little page in the screenshot to a fully-fledged community -- apparently worthy of our own level in an Angry Birds app!But as much as this is a celebration for us and for BirdLeader, absolutely none of it would be possible without you: The Community, The Ultimate Flingers, The Unparalleled Fans, The Nesters. So from the bottom of our hearts...THANK YOU!Thank you for making us the community that we are today. Our strategy for Angry Birds Seasons The Pig Days Level 1-4 is to launch a Black Bird into the lowest white blocks of the Tower. It should topple, and for highest scores the hardhat pig underneath should be popped. Finish by flinging a Black bird as far as possible toward the right. There's some extra points by knocking over the mini-tower to the left of the slingshot (thanks @mrshabs; or watch @E-Star's 355k video).
